On 29 December 2022, the Government of Finland, via the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, granted Ilmatar Energy Oy a conditional research permit for the Norrskär area in Finland’s exclusive economic zone off the coast of Korsnäs and Närpes, near the ports of Kaskinen and Vaasa. The decision, which defines a 389 km² research area for a planned new offshore wind farm, formally establishes Norrskär as a specific offshore wind project site and allows Ilmatar to proceed with sea area and seabed investigations there.
