NorNed is a 580 km-long subsea HVDC interconnector between Feda (Norway) and Eemshaven (Netherlands), configured as a symmetrical monopole with two ±450 kV DC cables.
In 2025 NKT was contracted to support an operations-phase repair on the NorNed interconnector. NKT supplied new high-voltage subsea cable sections and carried out jointing of parts of the power cable system in the Dutch section of the link, replacing damaged cable to restore transmission reliability between Norway and the Netherlands. The scope combined manufacture and delivery of replacement HVDC cable with specialist offshore jointing and installation services as part of corrective maintenance on the existing NorNed subsea cable system.
