NorNed is a 580 km-long subsea HVDC interconnector between Feda (Norway) and Eemshaven (Netherlands), configured as a symmetrical monopole with two ±450 kV DC cables.
HI-RES Subsea Services was appointed as the offshore installation contractor for the NorNed HVDC interconnector. The company was responsible for laying and installing the subsea HVDC cable system that forms the 580 km link between Norway and the Netherlands, handling marine installation of both parallel DC cables along the route. Its work covered offshore cable lay and associated subsea installation activities for what was then the world’s largest and longest HVDC submarine interconnector, delivering the construction-phase installation of the complete subsea cable system.
