NKT completed the planned replacement of cable sections on the Dutch onshore part of the NorNed HVDC interconnector at Eemshaven in early June 2025. The scope, executed under an existing service level agreement with TenneT, covered manufacture and jointing of new 450 kV high-voltage cable in the affected onshore lengths, supply of new terminations, and refurbishment of the existing terminations which TenneT will retain for future use. Additional 450 kV on- and offshore cable was delivered as spare stock. The campaign was performed by NKT's service and installation business and concluded the planned outage that had been running since early April 2025, minimising disruption to cross-border electricity flows between Norway and the Netherlands. Completion of the replacement preserves the 580 km link's design transfer capacity of 700 MW and addresses the long-term reliability work flagged following the 2022 cable fault in the same Dutch shallow-water section.
