Murphy (Murphy Group / J. Murphy & Sons) is contracted by RWE as the onshore cable installation contractor for the Norfolk Vanguard West HVDC export cable corridor — the buried route from the Happisburgh landfall to the Necton 400 kV National Grid substation. Per the RWE Norfolk Zone October 2025 community drop-in pack, Murphy completed installation of 17 km of underground ducting in the westernmost section of the cable route in 2024, with construction continuing in 2025 along the remainder of the route up to Happisburgh on the coast. The same drop-in pack explicitly cites images "from previous onshore cabling projects completed by Murphy" being shown on easels at community events. Per-project route is approximately 60 km of NVW's HVDC export cable bundle laid in the shared onshore corridor; the cluster also carries Vanguard East and Boreas bundles in the same trench.
