Description
LS Cable & System was awarded a contract by Vattenfall on 8 December 2022, in consortium with DEME Offshore (cable installation), for the design, manufacture and supply of HVDC export cables for the Norfolk Vanguard offshore wind farm cluster — comprising both Norfolk Vanguard East and Norfolk Vanguard West — connecting the offshore HVDC substations to the onshore landfall at Happisburgh, Norfolk. The contract transferred to RWE following its March 2024 acquisition of the Norfolk Vanguard West, Vanguard East and Boreas projects from Vattenfall. LS Cable & System will manufacture the HVDC export cable at its Donghae plant in South Korea. The export cable system supports the wider 60 km onshore HVDC corridor to the National Grid 400 kV substation at Necton. Mirrors the existing LS Cable role on Norfolk Vanguard West (same 2022 cluster contract).
