In April 2026, the two offshore substation topsides for the Nordseecluster A offshore wind farm were successfully installed onto their pre-installed foundations at the project’s offshore construction site, around 50 kilometres north of the island of Juist. The operation, described as a ‘wedding’ lift, saw both substations—each roughly 40 metres long and 22 metres high, weighing about 1,800 and 2,500 tonnes respectively—placed on their foundations. The platforms were constructed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, transported across the North Sea, and installed using SCALDIS’s floating heavy-lift crane Gulliver. This marked installation of the heaviest components for Nordseecluster A.
