A network of more than 60 kilometres of underwater cable… The cable work was carried out by… Visser & Smit Marine Contracting… 33-kilovolt underwater cables… buried at a depth of around 1 ½ metres.
Visser & Smit Marine Contracting carried out installation and burial of the 33 kV inter-array (infield) subsea cables at RWE Innogy’s 295 MW Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm in the German North Sea. The works were executed in two offshore campaigns using specialist cable-laying vessels including Normand Flower (2013) and Stemat Spirit (2014), connecting the 48 turbine foundations and the offshore substation foundation in loops, cutting cables to length onboard, pulling cable ends into foundation cable tunnels, and burying the cables to around 1.5 m. ROVs were used to survey final cable position and verify installation.
