RWE Innogy started installing the first inter-array cable at the Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm in early August 2013, marking the beginning of laying a planned 64 kilometres of 33 kV subsea cables to connect 48 turbines to the offshore transformer substation. The work, led by Dutch contractor Visser & Smit Marine Contracting, used the cable‑laying vessel Normand Flower to place the cables on the seabed in the construction area before subsequent burial by the vessel Deep Cygnus.
