On 18 November 2025, Nordsee One GmbH and Northland Power announced that Nordsee One had signed a five‑year bilateral Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Shell Energy Europe Ltd. The corporate PPA covers approximately one‑third of the annual output from the 332 MW Nordsee One offshore wind farm and will commence in June 2027, as the project’s initial EEG feed‑in‑tariff support steps down. A proportion of the contracted renewable electricity will supply Shell’s 100 MW REFHYNE 2 hydrogen electrolyser at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland, supporting decarbonisation of transport fuels and chemicals produced at the site. The agreement, secured through a structured tendering process, provides Nordsee One with forward price certainty for a significant share of its production while enabling Shell to source carbon‑free power and advance its low‑carbon hydrogen strategy.
