On 31 March 2017, Northland Power announced that the Nordsee One offshore wind project in the German North Sea had achieved first power. The company confirmed that the first installed Senvion 6.2M126 wind turbine on the 332 MW wind farm had successfully started generating electricity and was feeding green power into the grid. At that point, turbine installation had just begun earlier in the month, with seven of the planned 54 turbines already in place. Further turbine installation was set to continue in parallel with progressive commissioning of additional units. The press release also noted that all 54 monopile foundations, transition pieces, the offshore substation, and infield cables had been fully installed during 2016, enabling the project to move into the energisation and commissioning phase in 2017.
