In March 2025, BASF divested its 49% equity stake in the Nordlicht offshore wind portfolio back to Vattenfall in exchange for secured long-term access to renewable electricity from the Nordlicht projects, including Nordlicht II. Under this arrangement, BASF will purchase power from the Nordlicht offshore wind complex to supply its European chemical manufacturing facilities, with a focus on the Ludwigshafen site, providing a long-term revenue stream for the projects.
