On 25 March 2025, alongside Vattenfall’s agreement to repurchase BASF’s 49% stake in the Nordlicht offshore wind cluster, BASF secured access to a long-term supply of renewable electricity from Nordlicht, which it will use to power its European chemical production sites, with a focus on Ludwigshafen. This arrangement converts BASF’s former equity position in Nordlicht I and II into a long-term offtake, underpinning revenue for the projects once operational.
