On 19 January 2026, EMS Maritime Offshore (EMO) commenced construction of the operations and maintenance (O&M) base that will support Vattenfall’s Nordlicht offshore wind farms in Germany, including Nordlicht I. The facility is being built on EMO’s premises in the Port of Eemshaven and marks the start of onshore construction works for the project’s support infrastructure. Under a contract signed in the previous year, EMO will construct the O&M base and lease it to Vattenfall on a long-term basis. Vattenfall expects to start using the new building by the end of the year, initially to accommodate Nordlicht construction teams, making the base a key element in keeping the Nordlicht construction programme on schedule and supporting efficient, climate-friendly operations once the wind farms are online.
