On 19 February 2026, Vattenfall announced that the first monopiles and transition pieces for the Nordlicht I offshore wind farm had been successfully completed ahead of schedule. These key foundation components were manufactured by EEW and CS Wind and represent a major manufacturing milestone for the project before offshore construction is due to begin later in 2026. Each monopile measures up to 80.5 metres in length and weighs up to 1,290 tonnes, while the transition pieces, which connect the foundations to the turbine tower structures, are 23.7 metres high and weigh around 362 tonnes. In total, 68 monopiles and transition pieces will be installed for Nordlicht I. Vattenfall highlighted that the early delivery of these components demonstrates strong project progress and effective cooperation with its suppliers.
