Turnkey 155 kV AC export cable system and substation extension for Nordergründe, including design, engineering, supply and installation of 28 km three-core submarine cable and 3×4 km single-core underground cable along a total 32 km route.
NKT delivered a turnkey high-voltage AC cable system for the Nordergründe offshore grid connection, owned by TenneT Offshore GmbH. Between 2012 and 2017, NKT carried out design and engineering, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of the 155 kV export cable system linking the Nordergründe offshore wind farm in the German North Sea to the onshore grid at Inhausen. The scope covered around 32 km of transmission, including 28 km of three-core submarine cable with integrated fibre optics and 3×4 km of single-core underground cable, produced at NKT’s Karlskrona factory. NKT also supplied and integrated associated equipment such as onshore and offshore shunt reactors, a 155/220 kV power transformer, and undertook the extension of the existing 220 kV onshore substation. The project started under ABB and was completed after NKT acquired ABB’s high-voltage cable business, with NKT commissioning and handing over the link to TenneT in late 2017.
