On 23 April 2012, ABB announced it had won a significant order from transmission system operator TenneT to design, engineer, supply and install the 155 kV AC land and submarine cable system for the Nordergründe offshore grid connection, including 3×4 km of single-core land cable and 28 km of three-core subsea cable with integrated fibre optics to link the 111 MW wind farm to the German mainland grid.
