In 2022, the Nordergründe offshore wind farm in the German North Sea was designated as part of Germany’s critical infrastructure. The project description from investor John Laing notes that, since 2022, Nordergründe has been listed within this national critical‑infrastructure category, reflecting its strategic importance to the country’s power system. The 110.7 MW wind farm, comprising 18 turbines located 18 km north of Wilhelmshaven, benefits from the German feed‑in tariff mechanism and is now recognised as critical infrastructure in official classifications.
