Planning Consent Awarded

Following completion of a full Environmental Impact Assessment and Appropriate Assessment for the Nordergründe offshore wind farm, the competent authority BSH granted the project permit in two stages. The first step of this authorisation was issued in 2007 for the 111 MW offshore wind farm located in coastal waters of the German North Sea, adjacent to sensitive nature conservation areas. This initial permit step authorised part of the project under conditions requiring implementation of defined mitigation measures and compensatory payments under German law to address local impacts on birds and landscape, establishing the regulatory framework for subsequent construction and operation approvals.
