Offshore construction of the 111 MW Nordergründe offshore wind farm started in May 2016. According to Power Technology, construction of the project, located approximately 15 km north‑east of Wangerooge Island within the 12‑nautical‑mile zone of the German North Sea, began that month. The project comprises 18 Senvion 6.2M126 turbines on monopile foundations in water depths of roughly 2–10 m, as described by JBO. The start of offshore works in May 2016 marks mobilisation of installation vessels and commencement of at‑sea activities required to build out the monopile foundations, turbines, and offshore export infrastructure that connect back to the onshore substation via a 32 km, 155 kV AC link.
