VBMS completed installation of the subsea export cable for the Nordergründe offshore wind farm in June 2016. OffshoreWind.biz states that the company finished laying the 26.5 km, 155 kV export cable that connects the near‑shore wind farm to the onshore substation near Inhausen, following a campaign that began in early May with a landfall pull‑in below the dike at Hooksiel. Because the offshore substation had not yet been erected at that time, the final section of the sea cable was temporarily stored on the seabed within the wind farm area pending connection. This completion milestone meant the main offshore export cable infrastructure for Nordergründe was in place well ahead of full grid connection and commissioning.
