In February 2023, Milan-based developer Ninfea Rinnovabili submitted a maritime concession application to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility’s Harbor Master’s Office – Coast Guard of Pozzallo for the 750 MW Scicli floating offshore wind farm in the Malta Channel, seeking a 30-year concession over a 266.7 km² area located at least 27 kilometres off the southeast coast of Sicily, with export cables making landfall near Marina di Ragusa.
