By early March 2023, Milan-based developer Ninfea Rinnovabili had submitted a formal 30-year maritime concession application for the Mazara del Vallo 2 floating offshore wind farm, a 795 MW project comprising 53 turbines of 15 MW each located at least 52 km off Mazara del Vallo, Sicily, with export cables planned to connect the offshore site to the Italian grid via landfall near Mazara del Vallo and onward to the Partanna substation.
