Description
In November 2022 Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. secured a subcontract from Prysmian Group to supply 150 km of 525 kV HVDC mass‑impregnated submarine cable for the NeuConnect Interconnector between the UK and Germany. Acting as a cable manufacturing subcontractor to Prysmian PowerLink, Sumitomo is producing a portion of the offshore HVDC cable system that forms part of the 1.4 GW link. The submarine cable will be manufactured at Sumitomo’s Osaka Works in Japan and delivered to Prysmian for installation as part of the overall 725 km interconnector route across the North Sea.
