Turnkey design, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of the 725 km ±525 kV HVDC NeuConnect interconnector cable system, including subsea and land sections, fibre optics and monitoring/maintenance services.
In 2022 NeuConnect awarded Prysmian Group the main cabling EPC contract for the NeuConnect Interconnector, valued at around €1.2 billion. Prysmian is responsible for the turnkey design, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of the 725 km ±525 kV HVDC mass‑impregnated cable system linking the Isle of Grain in Kent with Wilhelmshaven in Germany. The scope covers the complete subsea and land cable system, including HVDC power cables, associated fibre‑optic cables on land and selected submarine sections, and integrated cable monitoring systems, along with monitoring, maintenance and services during the warranty period. Submarine and land cables are being manufactured at Prysmian’s Arco Felice factory near Naples, with installation carried out using its cable‑laying vessels Leonardo da Vinci, Cable Enterprise and Ulisse.
