Full EPC for Nemo Link’s 400 kV HVDC XLPE cable system between Kent (UK) and Zeebrugge (Belgium), comprising about 130 km submarine and 11.5 km land route, installed as two parallel conductors.
J-Power Systems Corporation (JPS), a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric, was awarded the main EPC contract by Nemo Link Limited for the Nemo Link UK–Belgium HVDC interconnector cable system. The scope covered engineering, design, manufacturing, transport, installation, and commissioning of a 400 kV HVDC XLPE cable system along a 130 km subsea route across the North Sea and an 11.5 km land route in the UK and Belgium. JPS supplied and installed two parallel HVDC cables, equivalent to approximately 260 km of submarine cable and 23 km of land cable, connecting the Richborough converter station in Kent with the Herdersbrug/Zeebrugge converter site. The contract spanned detailed design and factory production through offshore and onshore cable laying, jointing, terminations, and testing up to commercial operation in early 2019.
