On 25 February 2026, EDF confirmed that it had signed a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD) Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to buy the power generated by the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) Offshore Wind Farm. This long-term offtake arrangement is explicitly described as complementing the existing Contract for Difference that NnG already holds with the UK Government, creating a layered revenue structure for the project. The announcement was made in the context of NnG reaching commercial operations, with the 54‑turbine, jointly owned project between EDF power solutions UK and Ireland and ESB now live and generating clean, renewable electricity. Under this structure, the EDF CfD PPA will secure stable, inflation‑linked pricing for the green energy produced by NnG, reinforcing the price certainty already provided through the UK Government CfD. The project, located 15.5 km off the coast of Fife, is expected to generate up to 448 MW of renewable capacity, enough to supply around 375,000 homes and offset over 400,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually. By locking in predictable, index‑linked revenues through the EDF PPA on top of the government CfD, the project’s financial stability and bankability are strengthened at the point it enters full commercial operation, supporting Britain’s wider journey toward net zero and marking a major achievement for all parties involved.
