Saipem

Saipem was contracted on the Neart na Gaoithe project to supply and install the foundations for the offshore wind farm, including two additional steel jackets specifically for the offshore substations that form part of the Neart na Gaoithe OFTO transmission assets. Using its heavy-lift crane vessel S7000, Saipem’s scope covered delivery and offshore installation of the two substation jackets at the wind farm site in the outer Firth of Forth. These jackets support the two offshore HVAC substations that collect power from the turbines and export it via 220 kV cables to shore, before transfer of the completed transmission asset package to the OFTO owner. The work was part of the main construction phase of the project.
