Prysmian designed, supplied and installed two HVAC 220 kV three-core extruded export submarine cables which reach land at Thorntonloch beach in East Lothian, plus two 220 kV extruded land cable circuits from landfall to the substation at Crystal Rig and two 400 kV extruded land cable circuits to link Crystal Rig substation to a Scottish Power substation.
Prysmian designed, supplied and installed the export cable system connecting the Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm to the Scottish mainland grid, which will form the core of the Neart na Gaoithe OFTO transmission assets. The company provided two 220 kV HVAC three‑core subsea export cables running from the offshore substations to landfall at Thorntonloch Beach, and two 220 kV land cable circuits from the landfall to the onshore substation at Crystal Rig. In addition, Prysmian delivered two 400 kV land cable circuits linking the Crystal Rig substation to a Scottish Power substation. Prysmian executed the offshore laying, landfall HDD interface, burial, platform pull‑ins and terminations, as well as installation of the onshore cable sections. Submarine cables were manufactured in Pikkala (Finland), while land cables were produced in Gron (France).
