By 18 June 2021, Prysmian had installed the first of two offshore export cables at the nearshore of Thorntonloch Beach, pulling the cable through a 650 m horizontal directional drill duct towards shore, marking the start of the offshore export cable installation campaign for the Neart na Gaoithe OFTO linking the two offshore platforms to the onshore substation in the Lammermuir Hills.
