By 12 March 2018, the first stage of the Cyclades power interconnection, including the supply path to Iraklia via Paros and Naxos, was declared complete and fully operational, with Syros also connected and the islands’ previous oil‑fired stations on Paros and Syros taken offline or placed on standby. Subsequent reports from ADMIE, HEDNO and the EU confirm that from this period onward the electricity needs of Iraklia and the other connected Cyclades islands have been reliably covered by the mainland transmission system, with Phase A recorded as completed between March and May 2018.
