Civil and installation support for the two parallel 53 km Moyle Interconnector metallic return cables forming the replacement LV return system between Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Romac Civil Engineering (NI) assisted Nexans on the Moyle Return Cables Project to install new low‑voltage metallic return conductors for the Moyle Interconnector. As a local civil engineering contractor, Romac contributed to onshore and near‑shore construction activities associated with the new subsea return cables, including works at the landfalls and transition joint bays where the added LV return cables were connected into the existing HVDC system. This support formed part of the broader replacement programme that restored the interconnector’s full capacity by 2016.
