In 2013 Moyle Interconnector Limited launched an EU procurement process for an EPC contract to supply and install two medium-voltage cables between the existing HVDC converter stations at Auchencrosh in Scotland and Ballycronan on Island Magee, Northern Ireland, as part of the Moyle Return Cable Replacement project. This process was initiated via OJEU Contract Notice 2013/S 220-383923, covering design, manufacture, testing, supply, installation, jointing and commissioning of approximately 18 km of land cable and 106 km of submarine cable for the new return conductors.
