Farrans Construction Limited

Farrans Construction Limited acted as the design-and-build civil contractor for the Moyle Interconnector converter stations and associated switchyards, engaging Doran Consulting for civil and structural design. Farrans was responsible for constructing the converter station platforms at Ballycronan More and Auchencrosh, including extensive earthworks, rock breaking, piled foundations for converter buildings and switchgear, site drainage and silt control measures, and the civil works for auxiliary buildings such as fire‑fighting and pump houses, storage facilities and generator buildings. These civil construction works enabled the installation and operation of the HVDC equipment supplied under Siemens’ converter station contract.
