Moyle Interconnector Limited was granted an Electricity Interconnector Licence in Great Britain under Section 6(1)(e) of the Electricity Act by the Department of Trade and Industry, with the licence coming into force on 14 August 2006 to authorise ownership and operation of the 500 MW HVDC link between Northern Ireland and Scotland.
