In 2024, the Morven Offshore Wind Farm project team completed a significant phase of its site investigation work by conducting offshore survey activities that included environmental sampling at 45 locations. According to the official Morven project website, these offshore surveys formed part of a broader data-gathering campaign to support the project’s early development. The reference to environmental sampling at a defined set of 45 locations indicates that a structured offshore environmental sampling survey campaign was undertaken and brought to conclusion during 2024, providing a discrete dataset for the project’s assessment needs. Alongside the environmental sampling, Morven’s 2024 offshore survey programme also incorporated geophysical data acquisition from conventional vessels, as well as the collection of over 8,000 line-kilometres of geophysical data using uncrewed surface vessels. While these geophysical activities fall under different survey categories, they underline the integrated nature of Morven’s site investigations, with environmental and geophysical datasets being gathered in parallel to inform project design and impact assessment. The environmental sampling work completed in 2024 will contribute directly to understanding seabed and marine environmental conditions across the Morven North and Morven South array areas, supporting the development of the project’s environmental assessments and helping de-risk subsequent design, permitting, and construction planning stages. These completed sampling surveys therefore represent a key early-development milestone for Morven, building the empirical evidence base required for future environmental impact assessments and regulatory submissions.
