In March 2024, National Grid ESO’s ‘Beyond 2030’ report recommended a second grid connection for the Morven Offshore Wind Project to a substation in the Branxton area of South East Scotland, identifying this area as a future connection zone to be developed separately from the Hawthorn Pit link.
