Portugal’s planning for the Morocco–Portugal HVDC interconnector foresees that, if the project is approved, environmental studies for the Tavira–B. Harchan ~1 GW subsea cable would run through 2026. These studies would cover environmental assessment work required on both the Portuguese and Moroccan sides before physical seabed investigations and construction proceed.
