The Morecambe Offshore Windfarm is planned to reach full commercial operation around 2030. The project’s official indicative timeline states that the generation assets are expected to be operational by 2030 and labels 2030 as the “Expected Commercial Operation Date.” This sits within a broader schedule where development consent for the generation assets was granted on 1 December 2025, Final Investment Decision is expected in 2026, and construction is anticipated to begin no earlier than 2027, creating a pathway towards full operational status by the end of the decade. Earlier project communications also indicated an intention for the 480 MW project to be operational by 2029/30, aligning with the UK’s 2030 offshore wind capacity targets, but subsequent materials have converged on 2030 as the key milestone year. A March 2026 update related to the Community Benefit Fund further reinforces this timeline, noting that, as set out in the project’s development consent application, Morecambe is “expected to be fully operational in 2030 at the earliest.” This language confirms that 2030 remains the earliest envisaged date for the wind farm to be fully operational at its intended capacity. Once in operation, an Annual Community Benefit Fund of up to £200,000 per year is expected to open for applications, to be available for the lifetime of the wind farm’s operation, linking the COD directly to the start of sustained community investment activity.
