Moray Offshore Windfarm (West) Limited selected Siemens Energy, in consortium with Iemants, to supply the project’s two Offshore Transformer Module (OTM) offshore substation platforms and the onshore substation for the Moray West grid connection. Siemens Energy provided its OTM platform concept, undertook the electrical and platform design, and supplied and integrated the high-voltage equipment on the two offshore substations. The company also provided the onshore substation that steps up voltage from 220 kV to 400 kV for connection into the 400 kV Blackhillock transmission substation. These offshore and onshore substations form the core of the Moray West OFTO transmission assets, enabling export of up to 860 MW to the GB grid.
