Turnkey 220 kV HVAC export cable system for Moray West, comprising two offshore export circuits from the offshore substation platforms to landfall and onward to the onshore substation and Blackhillock grid connection; approximately 100 km of subsea cables and 170 km of land cables supplied and installed by Nexans.
Nexans won a significant turnkey contract with Ocean Winds to design, manufacture, install and protect the 220 kV HVAC export cable system for the Moray West project, which will form the Moray West OFTO transmission assets. The scope covers two offshore export circuits connecting the wind farm’s two offshore substation platforms to the project-specific onshore substation and the National Grid transmission system at Blackhillock. Nexans is supplying about 100 km of subsea export cable and 170 km of land cables, manufactured at its plants in Norway, the US and Belgium. Offshore installation, including pull-ins at both offshore substations and burial along the route, is undertaken by Nexans’ cable-laying vessels, with onshore works delivered by its Edinburgh-based team and local contractors.
