On 11 April 2022, Scottish Ministers granted further variations to the Moray West Marine Licences, including the Offshore Transmission Infrastructure (OfTI) Marine Licence, updating the authorised design for the offshore export cables and associated transmission works. These licence variations refined the previously consented OfTI while maintaining permission for the two offshore substation platforms and export cable corridor to Sandend Bay and the onshore grid connection via Whitehillock and Blackhillock substations.
