On 3 July 2015 Merkur Offshore GmbH awarded DEME, via its subsidiary GeoSea, a Balance of Plant contract covering construction of the Merkur Offshore wind farm, including design, supply and installation of the 66 turbine foundations, inner‑array cables and offshore substation, alongside turbine installation. Construction under this contract was scheduled to start in 2016 at the project site 45 km north of Borkum.
