On 16 May 2007, the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency issued a Genehmigungsbescheid approving the construction of 40 offshore wind turbines for the Meerwind Süd project in the German North Sea exclusive economic zone, following the application by Meerwind Südost GmbH & Co. Föhn KG.
