By July 2024, Med Wind Italia/Renexia had carried out preliminary desktop studies for Med Wind, mapping wind resource, environmental and landscape constraints, navigation routes, fishing and aquaculture areas, military and air-traffic uses, seabed nature and depth, and potential RTN grid connection nodes to identify an area free from conflicting uses in the Strait of Sicily.
