A 145 kV three-core XLPE HVAC submarine cable system, approximately 162–163 km long with integrated fiber optic links, providing power from Kollsnes to the Martin Linge platform.
NKT, through its high-voltage cable business acquired from ABB, designed, engineered, manufactured and helped install the 145 kV three‑core XLPE HVAC submarine power‑from‑shore cable system for Martin Linge under a contract from Subsea 7 worth about USD 170 million, awarded in December 2012. The scope covered technical pre‑studies, detailed cable design, production and testing of roughly 162 km of submarine cable with integrated fiber optic bundles, as well as a 17.5 kV in‑field cable linking the platform to the FSO. NKT also supported installation, including mid‑line jointing and commissioning, working alongside Subsea 7. The cable system connects the Kollsnes onshore substation to the Martin Linge platform, supplying up to 55 MW of power from the Norwegian grid and enabling remote operation from shore.
