Total E&P Norge contracted Siemens, which completed an extensive four‑month network analysis and system study to design the onshore substation at Kollsnes that will supply power from the Norwegian mainland grid to the Martin Linge offshore field via a 161 km subsea HVAC cable. The study results were used to customize and optimize the substation layout, including specification of 300 kV and 100 kV cables, SVC PLUS reactive compensation, transformers, GIS, and automation systems to meet the demanding stability and reliability requirements of supplying the offshore facilities.
