In November 2012, Subsea 7 Norway AS signed an approximately $800 million SURF EPSCIC contract with Total E&P Norge AS for the Martin Linge project, covering engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of subsea umbilicals, risers, flowlines and associated infrastructure. A key part of this scope was to design, manufacture, install, protect and commission the world’s longest HVAC power-from-shore (PFS) cable, a 163 km, 145 kV cable forming the main electrical link between the Norwegian mainland grid at Kollsnes and the Martin Linge platform and associated FSO.
