Nexans was selected and contracted to supply approximately 80 kilometres of low- and medium-voltage cable, including the submarine cable, for the electricity network project on Torsö, which includes the sea cable interconnection between Mariestad and Torsö and 55 new transformer stations. The company, based in Grimsås in Tranemo municipality, received the order and subsequently delivered the equipment, with each drum carrying about 1,300 metres of submarine cable weighing just over 13 tonnes.
Onshore construction for the Mariestad–Torsö electricity project was underway on Torsö, involving the burial of about 80 km of low- and medium-voltage cable around the island and installation of a subsea cable between Mariestad and Torsö. Nexans supplied the cables for the project, and at the time of reporting only around 8 km of cable remained to be installed, with equipment already delivered to site.
