First Power

DELAYED +2yr (Apr 2026): First power was projected for 1 January 2028. MaresConnect’s 2023 brochure and a 2025 Foresight article refer to operations by 2029, but the CRU’s May 2025 Initial Project Assessment uses a planned commercial operations date of 2030. This more conservative regulatory date, together with delayed early milestones, makes 2028 first power unrealistic, so first power is delayed to sometime in 2030, recorded as 1 January 2030 with year-level precision. --- MaresConnect Limited plans for the 750 MW MaresConnect interconnector between Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland to begin testing and initial power flow in 2028, following completion of construction, with project documents stating that testing and full operation are scheduled from that year.
